Artist Statement

My practice is largely about people's relationships to environments, both 'natural' landscapes and institutional spaces. An ongoing self-initiated project explores Women's experiences in the landscape, often in extreme environments and focussing on their often-marginalised experiences.

I work solely using analogue film photography, using both medium and large format cameras.

Part of my work is community engagement, teaching black and white photography using a mobile photographic darkroom to bring the magic of photography to communities. I use creative tools to help people explore their environments through meaningful engagement.

I have worked on a number of commissions for NHS Health Foundations and have permanent pieces included on the Palliative Care Ward of East Lothians Community Hospital and Invercylde's new Health and Care Centre.

I have been the recipient of the Richard and Siobhan Coward Award for Analogue Photography as well as The Visual Arts and Crafts Makers Award.

In 2021 I worked on a collaborative project 'Pioneering Spirit'for The National Trust For Scotland. This commission explored the intangible heritage of illicit whisky distilling in Scotland, through historical research, site visits and collaboration.

I have worked on two residencies for Edinburgh and Lothians Health Foundations, documenting hopsital sites and delivering workshops to staff and patients.
